Nuremberg and Cologne have the most popular Christmas markets. Other markets visited on several itineraries are in Heidelberg, Koblenz, Mainz, Manheim, Speyer, Strasbourg, Passau, Regensburg and Rothenburg.

Thank you for your post! Visiting Christmas markets in Europe is a wonderful experience. Each town, village and even city seems to participate with festively decorated stalls in enchanting settings. These are laden with unusual gifts, arts and crafts and seasonal food and drink that complete the setting of winter wonderland. The Globus tour Christmastime in Bavaria and Austria might work for you as it begins in Munich and ends in Vienna. Eastern European Winter Splendor also offers a nice itinerary.

I really look forward to the Christmas markets every year... I find them so magical. I love to buy decorations for Christmas and of course all the baked goods and cakes are great too The Christmas markets in Germany are my favorite (I really like the hamburg ones as well as all the other known ones) but I have also been to the Christmas market in Strasbourg, France, which was also very nice
